What in the world is a “black blessing”? Is it a brand new, black sports car? A chocolate-complected spouse? An onyx ring situated in a gold setting? Perhaps, but that’s not what this site is all about. In Genesis 12: 1-3 the LORD told Abram that all nations would be blessed through him. In other words, God would bless the nations through Abram and his descendants. Because of Jesus, these descendants would not only be Jewish, but they would be a diverse bunch. Included among them would be people who are Black. And what might we call them collectively? You guessed it! Black blessings.
So let’s be clear about two things up front. First, all followers of Jesus are called to be a blessing, regardless of their skin color. This site isn’t intended to put down others, but rather to focus on a specific subset of Christ-followers. And that leads me to point number two. The specific subset that will receive the majority of the focus here is African-American believers.
